Merry Christmas!
We had a great one, spending time with friends and family, cooking and eating, playing games and watching old and new Christmas movies. I hope everyone is able to spend time renewing their spirits over the holiday. I know it can be a tough season for many, with reminders of loss—I see you, too.
I didn’t have any takers on reading the first third of my next book. I get it--busy time of year, first draft of the first third of a book means it is likely to change a lot, and there's lots of completed books begging to be read. Still, I'll spend the rest of my holiday straightening out what I have so far, and then move on the the next leg of Elliah's adventure. Felian Swamps, Lapids, Salts, Warders... she has a lot to do! If anyone changes their mind about reading let me know--it should be ready to go in about a week. Ideally, I would enjoy having someone who has read the first series, for the context to Elliah, but it might also be fun to get feedback from someone who doesn't know the characters yet.
On a trip to San Antonio to visit in-laws, we stopped at a Barnes and Noble that makes special efforts for local authors. I sent them some info, and we will see how that pans out. No updates on the new cover for Book 2, though it did get my mind spinning about art for the new series.
Late addition: I was messing around with photos I took of the Thomas Dambo exhibit we chanced upon when we traveled to Maine this summer, converting them to create pics of my trolls and the Mother of Trees.
I'm keeping the updates short this week--I have editing to do. ;)

A week-and-a-half after retirement, my buddy sent a pic from the gym room at work, asking where I was. My first thought was, "Why are they in the office on a Saturday?" It was Thursday. That shows where my head is. 🙃 I haven't hit a home run in my job search, nor has anything knocked my socks off. I had an opportunity that appealed to me more than others, working at a startup called Tenstorrent. Though I didn't get the job, I realized through the process that I really like the idea of a...
I would like to lock down my blurb so that I can send it to the cover editor. I took input from April, then made more edits. I’m open to suggestions. Also pretty happy with it. The Mother of Trees withers while the trolls prepare to conquer a crumbling world. The elves’ only hope rests on a desperate plan forged by a fanatical Warder with questionable motives. Elliah, a magicless elf cursed by prophecy, holds the key to either salvation or destruction. Forced into an uneasy alliance with the...
