‘Tis the season! I’ve put up Christmas lights (the ones my wife says I’m not too old to climb the house and attach), turned on the Hallmark movies, and heard this timeless holiday message from my wife: “I can’t find crap in this freakin’ attic! When are you going to do something about it?!?”

Now my youngest wants to move her ramshackle art studio from the garage to the attic. 🤣

I had the pleasure of watching the Netherlands beat the tar out of the USA with my old outdoor soccer team. We'd played together back around 2001-2010, and I hadn't seen most of them since, so it was fun, despite the loss. A couple had even read my first book (and one had even reviewed it!)

I went to a reading from local author B.K. Greenwood at Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar in Austin, TX. It’s really fun to see a local indie author succeed, and the venue was cool--beer and books for me, though they are clearly trying for a classier wine-drinking crowd.

Jumping to my writing, Elliah is a couple of stone throws (stones throw?) from reaching the Mother of Trees. Like I mentioned last week, that seems like a good place to pause, straighten out what I’ve written, and get some feedback. I fear I may be waaaaay out in the weeds.

I have a request--if any of you have read my books and not reviewed them on Amazon & Goodreads, I could really use the reviews. I'm trying to get a Bookbub promotion deal, and I *think* the key is to have more reviews. So I'm asking/begging/pleading, help me reach my goal. I'd like to reach 100 reviews of Book 1, and 50 of the others. I'm well short on Amazon... closer on Goodreads.

o To-Do list for writing last week:

  • Email updates
  • Elliah meets the Mother of Trees (it’s more of a by-Xmas goal than a 1-week goal). Didn’t make it, but she made good progress.

Middle daughter napping with dog in my office

A week-and-a-half after retirement, my buddy sent a pic from the gym room at work, asking where I was. My first thought was, "Why are they in the office on a Saturday?" It was Thursday. That shows where my head is. 🙃 I haven't hit a home run in my job search, nor has anything knocked my socks off. I had an opportunity that appealed to me more than others, working at a startup called Tenstorrent. Though I didn't get the job, I realized through the process that I really like the idea of a...

I would like to lock down my blurb so that I can send it to the cover editor. I took input from April, then made more edits. I’m open to suggestions. Also pretty happy with it. The Mother of Trees withers while the trolls prepare to conquer a crumbling world. The elves’ only hope rests on a desperate plan forged by a fanatical Warder with questionable motives. Elliah, a magicless elf cursed by prophecy, holds the key to either salvation or destruction. Forced into an uneasy alliance with the...
