We finally had a weekend at home, and I carved out time to put some molding up in our office. Unfortunately, I didn't quite finish the first wall... it still needs some paint, so the office has bookshelves sitting in the middle of the room. Finding a chunk of time during the week to paint has proven difficult.

Almost as a family, minus my youngest, we wrapped up Stranger Things last night. Fun series. With the ages of our kids, we struggle to find things to watch together, and yes, the youngest bowed out, but the rest of us got excited about finding time to watch an episode. And because our time is so limited, no binge-watching, so it reminded me of when I was young and we had to actually WAIT for the next show to come out. Also kinda fun.

Three other authors teamed up with me at SudsMonkey for the first Books and Brews event. I sold the most books in one sitting I've ever managed, so far, but that was largely due to how many friends showed up to support me. While I sorely needed the encouragement, I can't repeat those conditions... unless I make a ton more friends. Thanks, BK & SudsMonkey, for setting that up.

In terms of actual writing, I made almost no progress. I probably wrote a paragraph in the last week. I'm not suffering from writer's block, but rather lack of time and energy. Unfortunately, my work project extended, so I'm not getting a break any time soon. With the way the economy is going, I'm thankful to have a job, even if it is sucking me dry.

Middle daughter napping with dog in my office

A week-and-a-half after retirement, my buddy sent a pic from the gym room at work, asking where I was. My first thought was, "Why are they in the office on a Saturday?" It was Thursday. That shows where my head is. 🙃 I haven't hit a home run in my job search, nor has anything knocked my socks off. I had an opportunity that appealed to me more than others, working at a startup called Tenstorrent. Though I didn't get the job, I realized through the process that I really like the idea of a...

I would like to lock down my blurb so that I can send it to the cover editor. I took input from April, then made more edits. I’m open to suggestions. Also pretty happy with it. The Mother of Trees withers while the trolls prepare to conquer a crumbling world. The elves’ only hope rests on a desperate plan forged by a fanatical Warder with questionable motives. Elliah, a magicless elf cursed by prophecy, holds the key to either salvation or destruction. Forced into an uneasy alliance with the...
